Last Saturday, the Crowne Plaza Hotel hosted the prestigious annual Liverpool Law Society Legal Awards and Shipley Solicitors walked away with the award for niche law firm of the year.
Shipley Solicitors is part of a new breed of entrepreneurial lawyers, focussing on ‘business first, law second’ to provide the most commercially effective legal advice for their clients.
Founded by Mark Shipley less than 4 years ago, the firm’s core area is intellectual property and IT law. Based in Liverpool Science Park, it has rapidly filled the gap in the market for this area of law, already boasting a number of market-leading clients throughout Europe.
On making the award, the judging panel said: “It is Shipley Solicitors’ operating framework which sets it firmly apart from other legal practices; Mark’s vision has been to combine the trust and accessibility of an in-house legal department with the expertise and flexibility of a commercial firm.”
